چکیده

Hermite cubic splines and collocation are used to solve, in an e7cient and accurate way, the Chapman– Enskog equations for viscosity and heat transfer and to compute the Burnett functions required for Poiseuille:ow problems based on rigid-sphere collisions and the linearized Boltzmann equation. ? 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. Viscosity Calculation of Supercritical Gases Based on the Rainwater-Friend Theory and the Modified Enskog Theory

A new correlation function for the calculation of viscosity for five typical supercritical gases is presented using the rainwater-Friend and modified Enskog theory. It is shown that by using accurate value for the thermal pressure and co-volume in the modified Enskog theory, this correlation function is suitable for calculation of the viscosity of supercritical gases, without any density an...

The effect of various conductivity and viscosity models considering Brownian motion on nanofluids mixed convection flow and heat transfer

In this paper the effect of using various models for conductivity and viscosity considering Brownian motion of nanoparticles is investigated. This study is numerically conducted inside a cavity full of Water-Al2O3 nanofluid at the case of mixed convection heat transfer. The effect of some parameters such as the nanoparticle volume fraction, Rayleigh, Richardson and Reynolds numbers has been ex...

Some solutions (linear in the spatial variables) and generalized Chapman–Enskog functions basic to the linearized Boltzmann equations for a binary mixture of rigid spheres

A Legendre expansion of the (matrix) scattering kernel relevant to the (vectorvalued) linearized Boltzmann equation for a binary mixture of rigid spheres is used to define twelve solutions that are linear in the spatial variables {x, y, z}. The twelve (asymptotic) solutions are expressed in terms of three vector-valued functions A(c), A(c), and B(c). These functions are generalizations of the C...

EFFECT OF TIME-DEPENDENT TRANSPIRATION ON AXISYMMETRIC STAGNATION-POINT FLOW AND HEATTRANSFER OF A VISCOUS FLUID ON A MOVING CIRCULAR CYLINDER

Effect of time dependent normal transpiration on the problem of unsteady viscous flow and heat transfer in the vicinity of an axisymmetric stagnation point of an infinite circular cylinder moving simultaneously with time-depended angular and axial velocities and with time-dependent wall temperature or wall heat flux are investigated. The impinging free stream is steady with a strain rate . A re...

Particular solutions of the linearized Boltzmann equation for a binary mixture of rigid spheres

Particular solutions that correspond to inhomogeneous driving terms in the linearized Boltzmann equation for the case of a binary mixture of rigid spheres are reported. For flow problems (in a plane channel) driven by pressure, temperature, and density gradients, inhomogeneous terms appear in the Boltzmann equation, and it is for these inhomogeneous terms that the particular solutions are devel...
